Repeater

  • Repeater is nothing but a device which strengths the weaker signal.
  • Every signal which travels for certain distance its signal strength decreases gradually.
  • In order to make the signal travel over long distance, repeater takes the weak signal and amplifies the signal.

Repeater Types depending on communication type:

Wired:
  • Every Broadband and telephone lines uses the repeater for the increasing the strength of the signal.

Wireless:

  • Radio signals uses repeater in the form of the antennas, which amplifies the signal and extends the coverage.
  • Even telecom industries uses the repeater to boost there signal strength.
  • WiFi networks also contain the repeater to increase the WiFi strength.

Difference between Repeater, Extender and Booster

Booster:

Booster is used to boost the signal for some more extend.
By using the booster it may leads to the data loss.

Extender:

Extender receives the input signal, collects the data.
Then adds a new carrier wave to the data, ans transmits in new network.

Repeater:

Repeater Receives the signal signal, and amplifies the weaken carrier waves.
By this signal are transmitted in same network.
