FTP Filezilla

  • Filezilla is a software to use FTP.
  • It is user friendly and easy to operate.

Filezilla Server:

Filezilla Server acts as a FTP server, to share file (which make files access to other users).

Filezilla Server Setup:

  • Download Filezilla Server from Filezilla Site.(Click For Site)
  • Click Filezilla Server Setup, to start installation.
  • Select the components.
  • Select the folder to install.
  • Click Install.
  • Assign the server IP and port.(If using local PC, default IP :127.0.0.1, Port : 14147).
  • Click edit, Open Users to assign.
  • Open General, click Add.
  • Assign a name to User.
  • Then Assign Password.

  • Open Share Folders and Click to add the sharing folder path.
  • Give File and Directory Permissions to the user.
  • FTP server is shared.

Filezilla Client:

Filezilla client is to access the FTP Server and to transfer and receive files.

Filezilla Client Setup:

  • Download Filezilla Client from Filezilla Site.(Click For Site)
  • Click Filezilla Client Setup, to start installation.
  • Select the components.
  • Choose the installation folder.
  • Choose Access rights.
  • Click Finish, Application is Installed.

Acceesing other PCs using Client:

  • Open Filezilla Client.
  • At Top Enter Remote PC's:
    • IP Address.
    • Username
    • Password
    • FTP Port No.(Default 21, may changes if  admin changes).
  • Click Get Connect.
  • Remote Server Appears in Right Just Drag and Drop files to transfer.

Note:

  • If you are using default FTP server and Filezilla FTP Server, change the port number in Filezilla Server.
  • By Default both will have same Port Number 21.

Allowing Firewall Access:

  • Open Allow an app through windows firewall.
  • Click Change Settings and Click Allow Another App.
  • Add App window opens, click browse.
  • Select Filezilla Server.exe and Click Open.
  • Add App Window open, with Filezilla Server.exe.
  • Click Add.
  • Filezilla Server appears in Allow an app through windows firewall.
  • Check Private and Public Boxes, Click OK.
