USB

  • USB stands for Universal Serial Bus.
  • Standard type of connects for many different kinds of devices.
  • USB symbol is show in below figure.
  • USB in was introduced in order to make the singular port to all usage.
  • USB working specialty is, it can be used for power transfer and data transfer.

Types of USBs

Type A:

  • USB Type A is most commonly used USB port.
  • This port is used for the host Controllers(i.e., HUB, Computers).
  • This USB port as 4 pins.
  • 2 pins for Data and two pins for Host.

Type B:

  • USB Type B is the port  invented because to make difference between host and peripherals.
  • Type B are used for the peripherals(i.e., Printers, Scanners).
  • Type B also contain 4 pins.
  • Type B as two other types due to sizes.
    • Mini B
    • Micro B
  • Mini B and Micro B as either 4 pins or 5 pins(5th pin used as id of device in OTG).

Type C:

  • USB Type C is the newly invented type.
  • It can be connected in any type of side.
  • It contains 24 pins.
  • It can be used as Host and Peripherals.

USB versions:

Version 1.0:

  • Released in 1996.
  • Speed Range is 1.5 Mbps to 12 Mbps (Mega Bits Per Second).
  • Speed name is Low Speed or Full Speed.
  • USB either in Black/White Color.

Version 2.0:

  • Released in  April 2000.
  • Speed Range is 60 Mbps to 480 Mbps(Mega Bits Per Second).
  • Speed name is High Speed
  • USB either Black/ White Color.

Version 3.0:

  • Released in 2008.
  • Speed Range is 60 MBps(Mega Bytes Per Second) to 5 Gbps (Gega Bits Per Second).
  • Super Speed.
  • USB is blue color.
  • USB of all types contains extra 5 pins compared to old versions.
  • There are sub versions in this.
    • 3.1 (10 Gbps)
    • 3.2 (20 Gbps)
    • Speed name is Super Speed Plus.
