PBX
- PBX Stands for Private Branch Exchange.
- Works as a calling router.
- PBX is a private telephone network with in a company or organisation.
- PBX is used for communication internally or externally.
PBX Features:
- Use of more than one telephone line in an organization, and management of outgoing and incoming calls.
- Splitting of one single phone line into several internal lines
- These internal line as extension number which contains three or four-digit numbers.
- Allow free phone communication within the organization.
- Ensure good interface with customers through features like call recording, voice mail.
- Auto answering the call with in a network through phone speaker or for group announcement.
Some Terms used in PBX:
- PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network):
Is the region where the communication between to users from other organisation or individual person.
If a user calls PBX is set for the auto attendant call for one phone or it is sent to Voice Mail or IVR services.
When ever you call a customer service you hear a computer voice, these comes under the voicemail.
Types of PBX:
Traditional PBX:
- Simple Hardware box.
- Connects the multiple phone, of analog and digital, voicemail and IP phones.
- Features are call forwarding, call hold and intimation of busy line.
IP PBX:
- Uses Internet service for communication.
- Calls are transferred using the IP address.
- Internal phone are directly answered by pressing a button.
- External calls forwarded using the Voice Over IP.
Host PBX:
- Host PBX is nothing but PBX is not situated in the internal network.
- It works as an cloud network, where organisation check after the operation for paying some monthly charges.
- By the host PBX, cost and work is reduced.
- Using host PBX we can connect to different branches of company or organisation with in a region as internal extension.
