Modem

Modem:

• Modem itself nothing but modulation and demodulation
• Modem used to convert the internet signals of analog to the system understanding digital signals.

Modems are of  four types:

DSL line:

• DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line.
• These are the line used for transmit data using telephone line.
• Internet and Telephone data are parallel used.

Coaxial line:

• Coaxial line internet is provided by the coaxial cable.
• Cable which is used for television is coaxial cable.
• Surfs faster internet and less expensive.

PCI Modem:

• PCI Modem is the inbuilt CPU modem.
• Which is directly connected to the mother board.

Comparison between Modem and Router:

• Router is used to distribute the data between the computers or between the router.
• Some of the routers contains the contains the inbuilt modem and router.
• Router is also used to generate the data packets wireless.
• Below figure shows the inbuilt router and modem.
• Below figure shows the router with WiFi.
